The idea is to run a metal framework about 2.5 meters (roughly 8 feet) high near the gate and top it with solar panels, since permits are available for solar installations even where a standard pergola would be denied.
The result would be a roughly 10 meter (about 33 foot) long shaded walkway the moment you enter the property, powered by the sun instead of blocked by red tape.
