First Look at a Home Bought Sight Unseen in Santo Stefano di Camastra

This story begins the way a lot of our favorite ones do, with someone watching one of our property tour videos from their own living room, far from Sicily.

A viewer from Ireland saw that video and emailed us right away for more details.

From there, things moved quickly, and he made the decision to buy a home in Sicily without ever setting foot inside it. We handled the entire purchase on his behalf while he stayed in Ireland, going about his normal life the whole time.

The town he chose was Santo Stefano di Camastra, a coastal spot on the Tyrrhenian side of Sicily known for its ceramics and its long views over the water.

In Episode 85, we filmed the moment he finally saw his new home in person for the very first time. He stepped out onto the terrace, looked over the rooftops of the town toward the sea, and stood there for a moment before he could even speak.

I am the smuggiest man on the planet right now. I really should be waxing lyrical about my emotions right now, but I am rather overcome. It’s just incredible. I’ve got a million dollar view. Oh my good lord, it is amazing. And the fact that no one can build down there. It’s just exactly as described, exactly as was shown advertised. I honestly guys, I can’t thank you enough, and I genuinely mean that. As soon as it popped up on the video, I was straight on the keyboard. Email, more details please. And it’s gone from there. So far the whole transaction has been seamless. When I say zero stress, certainly on my part. Everything has been taken care of. Life back home has continued as per normal. And then when you come here for the first time and you see this, it’s simply magnificent. My command of the English language is not strong enough to put into words how I’m feeling right now.

Watching him take in that view, after months of trusting us with a decision this big from thousands of miles away, was a moment we won’t forget. He had never walked through the door, never stood on that terrace, until that day.

That’s the part of this work we love most, taking someone from a video on a screen to standing on their own terrace in Sicily, seeing the life they chose finally become real in front of them.
