Some of the people who reach out to us have been looking for a home in Italy for a long time before they ever find us. Rebecca had been at it for over two years.
She spent that time the way most international buyers do. Many, many hours on Idealista, the most popular real estate listing site in Italy, scrolling through property listings and reading every blog she could find about buying a home in Italy from the other side of the world.
She reached out to real estate agents in Italy along the way, and most of them never got back to her. The distance and the language barrier made it hard to build the kind of trust you need before you send money across an ocean.
None of that is unusual. It is the part of the process that quietly wears people down.
Then one night she could not sleep. She picked up her iPad, and there was a notification that a new episode of ours had just gone live. She pressed play.
By her own account, she knew within two minutes. The house was Casa Santa’s Terrace in Tusa, a medieval hilltop town on Sicily’s northern coast with the sea laid out below it.
She got out of bed and emailed Carlo. It was 3am where she was. By the time her alarm went off at 6am, there was already a reply waiting.
Within two hours the two of them were on the phone. By the end of that same day, an offer letter was on its way to the family who owned the house. Two years of searching, and it came together in one working day.
I had been hunting for a Sicilian house for over two years, poring over hours and hours of Idealista, and had several unsuccessful communication attempts with Sicilian realtors. The distance and the language barrier just did not allow me to make that connection. One evening I woke up in the middle of the night with insomnia, opened up my iPad, and there was a notification that a new episode was available from Move To Italy Now. I hit the play button, and within two minutes of watching that video, I knew that house was mine. It had to be mine. I leapt out of bed and emailed Carlo. It was 3am. By the time I woke back up to go to work at 6am, there was a response from him already in my email. Within two hours we were speaking on the phone, and by the end of the day he had drafted an offer letter to the sellers. This has been an unbelievably seamless process from beginning to end. If you’re thinking about it, do not hesitate.
We filmed Rebecca in Episode 89, sitting in the evening light in Castel di Tusa, not far from her new home. She told us she would do a hundred of these if we asked, which is about the nicest thing a client can say.
The part that stays with us is not the speed. It is that two years of frustration dissolved the moment she found a way in she could trust.
That is what we are here for. If you have been looking for a home in Italy for a while and it is not coming together, tell us your dream, and we’ll help make it real.
