We first got to know Christian the way we get to know a lot of our viewers, through the videos. He was watching from Paris, following our tours of the North Coast of Sicily, imagining what it might feel like to actually own a piece of it.
Then one day, it stopped being an imagination.
We ran into Christian at the notaio’s office in Sicily, right after he had signed the papers on his own home in Motta d’Affermo. He wasn’t a buyer we had been guiding through a search that day. He was a viewer who had quietly followed the process, made the leap, and closed on a house of his own.
There is something special about catching someone in that exact moment. The ink barely dry, the keys not even in hand yet, and the reality of it still sinking in. Christian was glowing.
He told us about the family he bought the house from, and it was clear this was not just a transaction for him. It meant something.
Exactly, here they are. I bought a beautiful house from a lovely family, so refined, and you can see this refinement in the house. So I’m really lucky. I’m so happy.
That is the part people do not always expect about buying in Sicily. You are not just buying stone and rooms with a view. You are stepping into someone else’s story, and if you are lucky, that story has been cared for.
Christian has renovation plans ahead for his new place in Motta d’Affermo, and we cannot wait to see what he does with it. But what stuck with us most was not the paperwork or the plans. It was running into him minutes after he became a homeowner in Sicily, still a little stunned, completely happy.
Moments like that are exactly why we do this. Somewhere between a video watched in Paris and a signature at a notaio’s office on the North Coast, a dream became an address.
Congratulations, Christian. Motta d’Affermo is lucky to have you.
